I’m a mom over 40 who lives in jeans— Rag & Bone’s viral Miramar jeans are worth the hype

I’ll admit it: I was disgusted by the idea of sweatpants printed to look like denim. After surviving the jegging trend of the early 2010s, I was completely unwilling to consider any pants that were supposed to look like denim without actually being denim. So when the Rag & Bone Miramar jeans went viral in 2024 and landed a spot on Oprah’s Favorite Things list in 2025, I dismissed them. I’ve spent my career as a fashion editor and stylist, so I’ve seen trends come and go, and I’ve learned not to jump on every single one. Plus, I’m a die-hard jeans girlie. On most days, whether I’m headed to work, going out with friends, or sitting through a weekend soccer tournament, I’m wearing— you guessed it— jeans.

Then, a few months ago, I complimented my much younger and cooler fashion assistant on her jeans. I almost fell over when she whispered, “They aren’t jeans, they’re Rag & Bone Miramar.” Moms, I was shocked. These non-jeans look exactly like jeans. She was probably so annoyed by my constant onslaught of questions that day, but I couldn’t wrap my head around what kind of witchy technology Rag & Bone uses to make them look this good while feeling this soft. As it turns out, the hype is completely justified.

The Rag & Bone Miramar jeans are the best possible version of looking polished while feeling comfortable. I fight hard against the temptation to throw on sweats or workout clothes and wear them all day. I don’t want to be that unkempt mom who looks like she didn’t have time to wash her hair or get dressed in the morning (even though, I am very much her as a working single mom). I know I simply feel better when I actually get dressed in the morning. And let’s be real, you never know when or where husband #2 will appear. I’ve gotta be ready! The Miramar jeans let me have it both ways. I look like I’m wearing my favorite designer denim, but I feel like I’m wearing my favorite lounge pants. It’s the kind of fashion magic I didn’t think was possible.

I bought the Miramar Sofie Wide Leg pants, and they’ve quickly become one of the hardest-working pairs in my closet. The high-waisted style is fitted but still comfortable, with a flattering wide leg that looks just as good with sneakers for running errands as it does with sandals or heels for dinner. All Miramar jeans are made from 100% cotton, so they’re breathable, naturally soft, and have exactly the right amount of give. Just make sure to wash them in cold water and lay them flat or hang them to dry. Heads up, mine did shrink ever so slightly, but not enough to stop me from already planning my next pair. I’m eyeing the Sport Stripe Track Pant and the straight-leg versions— because now I finally understand what all the fuss was about.
